PROSTATE CANCER
Prostate cancer is one of the most frequent cancers among men. It is now possible to detect this cancer at an earlier stage by checking the PSA rate (Prostate Specific Antigen) in the blood. This can be done by a simple blood test. Radiotherapy is very effective to treat this type of cancer, in every stage of its development. Radiotherapy can be also used in combination with a hormonal treatment or after an operation. The duration of the treatment varies between 6 and 8 weeks.
The Centre d'Oncologie des Eaux-Vives is specialized in the treatments of prostate cancer. It is also the only center in the Romandie (French speaking part of Switzerland) offering patients with an early stage prostate cancer a treatment of brachytherapy.
